Arsenal produced a dominant display at Portman Road on Sunday, sweeping aside a struggling Ipswich Town side with a 4-0 victory that postponed Liverpool’s potential Premier League title celebrations and kept the Gunners’ faint hopes of a late title challenge alive. Leandro Trossard netted twice, while Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri also found the back of the net in a performance that underlined Arsenal’s attacking depth and discipline.
Fresh from their Champions League triumph over Real Madrid earlier in the week, Mikel Arteta’s side started with real intent. Arsenal seized control from the outset, bossing possession and pinning Ipswich deep in their own half. The breakthrough came in the 14th minute when Bukayo Saka’s precise delivery found Trossard, who finished calmly to give the visitors an early lead.
Arsenal didn’t ease up, and in the 28th minute, Saka was involved once again—sending in a low cross that was deftly flicked on by Mikel Merino, allowing Martinelli to tap in from close range for a 2-0 lead.
Ipswich’s already uphill task turned into a mountain just minutes later. Leif Davis was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Saka, catching the winger with studs high on the back of the leg. Reduced to ten men, Ipswich struggled to stay afloat as Arsenal continued to apply pressure.
The home side offered brief resistance early in the second half, with George Hirst curling a shot narrowly wide during a rare counter-attack. But Arsenal quickly regained control. In the 69th minute, a short corner routine between Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard found Trossard unmarked in the area, and the Belgian coolly fired through a defender’s legs for his second of the night and Arsenal’s third.
