Ugandan music producer and artist Daddy Andre has voiced his disappointment in the current state of the country’s music industry, saying that many artists have gained little to no meaningful progress over the years.
During a recent interview with Sanyuka TV, the musician criticized fellow artists for failing to create lasting impact within the industry. According to him, the Uganda music scene has "reaped dust" due to a lack of unity and collaboration across different sectors of the entertainment.
“Many artists are more concerned with appearances and titles calling themselves celebrities yet when you look at the industry’s overall progress, there’s barely anything to show,” he said.
Daddy Andre went ahead and said that one of the major setbacks is the tendency for artists to isolate themselves rather than working hand-in-hand with other key players like scriptwriters, producers, and film creators. He believes that without this kind of synergy, the growth of the music industry will remain stunted.

“They think I’m crazy for saying this, but if they took the time to understand my perspective, they’d realize there’s value in it. Everyone in the entertainment space needs to work together, from those writing music for films to those handling production. The copyright law isn’t just about singers; it affects the entire creative process. Collaboration is the key to real success.” he added.
