Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola officially took his oath of office today as the new Member of Parliament (MP) for Kawempe North.
His swearing in ceremony was presided by the Speaker of parliament Anita Among today in the speakers chambers.
Nalukoola who represented the National Unity Platform secured 17,764 votes after beating his closest opponent Faridah Nambi who represented the ruling National Resistance Movenment who gathered 8,593 votes.
Speaker Anita earlier attributed the delay to Electoral Commission's failure to gazette results.

The by-election was marred with alot of violence, brutality of security operatives who arrested journalists and opposition supporters.
Nalukoola who is also a seasoned lawyer has always been advocating for human rights, justice and accoutability. His win reinforces NUP's stronghold in Kampala and Kawempe North in particular where the party continues to resonate.
