Entebbe International Airport came alive with emotion and excitement today as Dr. Jose Chameleone made his long-awaited return to Uganda following a four month stay in the United States for specialized medical care.
The iconic musician, 45, arrived to a hero’s welcome just after midday, greeted by a massive crowd of fans, friends, and family who turned the airport into a celebration zone.

Chameleone, who had been battling acute pancreatitis and according to sources, his situation worsened due to consistently using substances.
The matter was publicly acknowledged by his son, Abba Marcus Mayanja, who last year made an emotional appeal, calling for prayers and support for his father’s recovery.
The singer moved by the warm reception, Chameleone briefly addressed the crowd, thanking them for their unwavering support.

“I’ve felt the power of your prayers. I’m grateful to be back on my feet and even more grateful to be back home,” he said.
Fellow musicians Pallaso and Weasel, also his brothers, were present at the airport, embracing him in an emotional reunion that drew cheers from onlookers. The gathering served as a powerful reminder of Chameleone’s unshakable influence in Uganda’s music scene, as well as the unity he inspires across generations of fans.
