Rapper Feffe Bussi has stirred controversy in Uganda’s music scene by publicly criticizing Eddy Kenzo’s weekly jam sessions, an initiative tied to the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) that Kenzo has championed since taking the helm as its interim president in 2022.
Feffe Bussi questioned the sessions’ effectiveness, reigniting tensions between the two artists and exposing deeper fault lines within the industry.
The weekly jam sessions, launched under Kenzo’s leadership, were intended to unite Ugandan musicians, offering a platform for collaboration, networking, and live performances every Wednesday
However, Feffe Bussi has punched holes in the concept, arguing that the sessions fall short of their lofty goals.
Bussi suggested that the events have devolved into little more than social gatherings, benefiting only a select few, namely Kenzo and his inner circle while failing to deliver tangible support for the broader artist community.
“It’s all noise and no substance,” Bussi said.
