Inter Milan booked their spot in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, progressing with a 4-3 aggregate victory. This marks a significant milestone for the Italian club, who have reached the last four for the first time in over a decade.
The match began with Bayern Munich asserting their dominance early on. The home side took the lead in the 19th minute when Joshua Kimmich’s precise delivery found Serge Gnabry, who powered his header past Inter goalkeeper André Onana to give Bayern a 1-0 lead on the night. With Bayern now ahead 3-2 on aggregate, the pressure was firmly on Inter to respond.
Inter didn’t take long to answer back. Just before the break, in the 42nd minute, Lautaro Martínez delivered a clinical finish after a well-timed run into the box. He calmly slotted the ball past Bayern keeper Yann Sommer to level the score at 1-1, bringing the aggregate score to 3-3 and keeping the Nerazzurri’s hopes alive.

The second half saw both teams push for the crucial next goal. Bayern regained the lead in the 66th minute when Leroy Sané bent a stunning free-kick into the far corner of the net, giving Bayern a 2-1 advantage on the night and putting them 4-3 up on aggregate.
But Inter refused to be undone. In the 79th minute, a lightning-fast counter-attack saw Romelu Lukaku release Martínez, who calmly slotted in his second goal of the night, drawing the aggregate score to 4-4 and giving Inter the edge on away goals.
As the final whistle blew, the score stood at 2-2, and Inter Milan celebrated their hard-earned draw, knowing they had advanced on away goals. Despite Bayern’s best efforts, it was Inter’s tactical discipline and clinical finishing that saw them through to the semi-finals.
This victory marks a historic moment for Inter Milan, who are now through to the semi-finals for the first time since the 2009/10 season, when they went on to win the Champions League under José Mourinho.
