Kanye West blames Taylor Swift for not being selected to perform at Super Bowl

American rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, has reignited his long-running feud with pop icon Taylor Swift, alleging she played a role in preventing him from headlining the Super Bowl halftime show.
In a since-deleted X post, the 47-year-old artist outlined what he believes are the key reasons he’s been sidelined from the high-profile gig, pointing to Swift as one of the culprits.
West listed three incidents he claims have kept him off the Super Bowl stage: his 2005 statement during a Hurricane Katrina telethon that “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people,” his public endorsement of Donald Trump by donning a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat, and what he cryptically called “the Taylor Swift situation.” He wrote, “Three moments stopped me from the Super Bowl spotlight: calling out Bush, rocking the MAGA hat, and crossing paths with Taylor’s wave.”
“I never was allowed to do the Super Bowl because of three moments. George Bush doesn’t care about Black people. The Taylor Swift movement moment. And wearing a MAGA hat.” Kanye wrote.
The mention of Swift seems to hark back to their infamous 2009 clash at the MTV Video Music Awards, where West interrupted her acceptance speech to declare that Beyoncé deserved the award.
The moment became a cultural flashpoint, fueling years of tension between the two artists, later compounded by disputes over West’s 2016 track “Famous.”
