Kyambogo Guild President and Nine Students Remanded Over Tuition Protest
Kyambogo University Guild President Akiso Benjamin and nine other students have been remanded to Luzira Prison following their arrest during protests against university surcharge and tuition policies.

The group appeared before Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court on April 25, facing charges of incitement to violence, unlawful assembly, and rioting. One student requested an earlier date due to upcoming exams, but the magistrate declined.
The protests began on April 23, with students accusing the university of imposing unfair tuition surcharges. The demonstration turned chaotic, leading to the arrest of Akiso and others.
