Liverpool Captain Virgil Van Dijk Signs Two-Year Extension Beyond 2025 Season

Virgil van Dijk, has signed a new two-year contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2027. The announcement, made earlier today, ends months of speculation about the 33-year-old Dutch defender’s future, as his previous deal was set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season
Van Dijk joined Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018 for a then-record £75 million fee for a defender and he has been a cornerstone of the team’s success, helping them win the Premier League, Champions League, two League Cups, the FA Cup, and the Club World Cup.
“It’s a proud feeling, it’s a feeling of joy. It’s just incredible. The journey I’ve had so far in my career, to be able to extend it with another two years at this club is amazing and I’m so happy.” he said

“There wasn’t any doubt in my head that this is the place to be for me and my family. I’m one of Liverpool. Someone called me the other day an adopted Scouser – I’m really proud to hear these things, it gives me a great feeling.” he added.
The timing of the extension came just days after teammate Mohamed Salah also signed a two-year deal on April 11, ensuring two of Liverpool’s most influential players remain as the club prepares for a potentially busy summer transfer window.
