Makerere University Guild President Churchill Ssentamu Defends Viral Photos with President Museveni

Makerere University Guild President, Churchill Ssentamu, has responded to the online buzz surrounding recent photos of him appearing alongside President Yoweri Museveni, clarifying that the interaction was purely official and in line with his responsibilities as a student leader.
Ssentamu explained made these remarks at a press conference held today at the Guild office, Makeere University.
''I want to clarify on the photographs circulating on social media of me and Gen. Museveni. These pictures were taken while i was on my official duty as a Guild President at the Lauch of the Research and Innovation week,'' he said
In addition, Ssentamu expressed disappointment over being sidelined during the recent Innovation Week opening ceremony held at the university. He revealed that despite being the elected voice of the students, he was not given the opportunity to speak during the high-profile event.
''Its on note that i want to condemn management for denying me a chance to speak at the lauch of the Research and Innovation week. Silencing the students' voices at such a gathering denied us the opportunity to address the challenges our youthful innovators face,'' he said.
