Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
The Belgian maestro, widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever midfielders, announced his decision via a heartfelt social media post on X formerly known as Twitter.
''Seeing this, you probably realise where this is heading. So i'll get straight to it and let you all know that these will be my final months as a Manchester City player,'' he wrote
De Bruyne joined Manchester City from Wolfsburg in 2015 for £54.5 million and quickly established himself as the heartbeat of Pep Guardiola’s dynasty. Over his tenure, he has amassed an astonishing 106 goals and 174 assists in 413 appearances, steering City to six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and their historic first Champions League triumph in 2023.
''Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we know this day eventually comes,'' he added
This season, De Bruyne’s minutes have dwindled, with injuries—including a hamstring issue and an abdominal problem—limiting him to 31 appearances, of which only 19 were starts
''This city. The club. These people... gave me EVERYTHING.
I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back!
And gues what--- we won EVERYTHING,'' he added.
