Media personality and digital influencer Sheilah Gashumba has boldly stated that it’s time for aging television presenters to pass the torch to younger talent.
Speaking candidly in a recent discussion, Gashumba didn’t hold back as she named long-time TV host Mc Kats as one of the personalities who should consider stepping away from the screen.
According to Sheilah, the media space especially television has become increasingly difficult to thrive in, and many seasoned presenters continue to struggle financially despite years of service.
“TV is a tough space. The pay is low, and people feel pressured to borrow clothes and shoes just to look the part,” she said. “Personally, I stepped away, but I still see people holding on when they shouldn’t. Some, like my friend Mc Kats, really need to explore new paths and let younger talents rise.”

Mc Kats, a household name in Ugandan entertainment, has spent nearly two decades on television, beginning his career at WBS TV before moving to NTV Uganda and eventually NBS Television.
Despite his longevity in the industry, Gashumba pointed out that he, like many others, still faces financial struggles.
Her comments have sparked conversations online, with supporters agreeing it's time for new energy on screens, while others defend Mc Kats’ legacy and continued relevance in the industry.
