South Sudan's Salva Kiir Welcomes Museveni for Talks on Cooperation and Unity

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda has touched down in South Sudan today welcomed by President Salva Kiir.
His visit comes at the gracious invitation of His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.
The visit signalises a renewed commitment to deepening the relationship between Uganda and South Sudan.
''I have arrived in South Sudan at the invitation of His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit. I look forward to our discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between our two nations.'' Museveni wrote on X formerly Twitter.
The visit, though brief, is seen as a diplomatic boost for both leaders. For Museveni, it reinforces Uganda’s role as a regional mediator and ally, while for Kiir, it highlights South Sudan’s intent to strengthen alliances as it navigates internal challenges and seeks economic growth.
