The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, has urged the Government of Uganda to ban the popular social media platform TikTok.
He argued that the platform poses a significant threat to the country’s moral fabric and social harmony.
Sheihk Shaban made these remarks after the Eid ul-Fitr prayers at Old Kampala Mosque on Sunday morning, as Muslims across Uganda celebrated the end of Ramadan.

Sheikh Mubajje singled out TikTok as a platform that he believes has gone beyond in promoting what he described as “abusive and harmful content.”
He went ahead and said that the app is a breeding ground for immorality, cyberbullying, and behavior that undermines Uganda’s cultural and religious values.
He also went ahead expressed his dissappointment in some Muslim leaders who are using social media to mislead Ugandans by feeding them with false information.
