Upcoming singer Uncle Chumi is seeking UGX 30 million in compensation from Spice Diana and her manager, Roger Lubega, over the disputed removal of their collaborative song from YouTube.
Chumi, who had teamed up with Spice Diana on a remix of “Gwokute Gwoba” earlier this year, says the track meant more to her than just music and it was a symbol of hope and ambition.
The recent deletion of the song from Spice Diana’s official YouTube channel has left her devastated.
Speaking out, Chumi expressed disappointment in how the duo handled the collaboration, claiming that they took over full ownership and have since been collecting revenue from the song without herconsent.
“They control everything about the song, its rights, the revenue, and now even its existence. That track carried my dreams. It gave me hope, all I’m asking is UGX 30 million as compensation. I plan to give UGX 10 million to the people who’ve supported me on this journey and use the remaining UGX 20 million to restore our family’s ancestral grounds.” Chumi said.
The conflict between the two artists has been brewing for over a month, marked by back-and-forth jabs and accusations. The situation reached a boiling point when Spice Diana recently pulled the song from her YouTube channel an action that Chumi says feels like erasing her dream entirely.
